Aim of the charity
Anaemia Awareness was launched in 2023 to provide helpful information, raise awareness of anaemia and how to identify it within the population. Its ambition is to discover people who are anaemic through education as well as providing non-invasive testing in the community, prompting people to seek further medical assistance when appropriate.
With Iron deficiency anaemia leading to a significant level of poor health there is an ever increasing need to discover this condition as soon as possible to start appropriate treatment. Simple iron replacement tablets can be taken and alleviate iron deficiency anaemia resulting in better health, improved quality of life and a significnat positive impact on the ability to work and contribute to the economy.

Testing
As the charity grows we intend on expanding the ability to set up pop-up stations across the UK. These stations provide the opportunity to have a non-invasive test using a simple finger probe. These testing locations will have trained volunteers who can undertake testing in under 30 seconds. The charity started in Cardiff, South Wales, but with a growing volume of volunteers will begin to expand to many locations across the UK. Infomation will be updated on this website on pop-up locations as they develop.

We intend on utilising areas with large footfall such as shopping centres, supermarkets, leisure centres, libraries and other community facilities whenever we can. as we build growing relationships with retailers, local councils and third sector support networks.
If you would like to get involved either through becoming one of our volunteers or have community facilities that you would like to permit us to use for a pop-up station for testing then please go to:
Useful resources
You will be able to find many useful resources that provide very helpful information on anaemia, and we provide a list here on our site which are from reputable sources. These resources provide a good place to gather information as well as our constantly updated website. For links to resources visit:
In time we plan on developing some merchanise than can be purchased to help us share the message throughout the UK. Volunteers will be wearing our merchandise at our pop-up stations. Keep a watch here for further developments. The sale of the merchandise helps fund further purchase of testing equipment, use of facilities, other resources as well as training of staff.
